When Aaliyah, a Black Caribbean woman, relocates to the gentrified coastal town of Whitstable in search of reinvention for herself and her family, she’s embraced by Jessica a magnetic but controlling figure at the heart of a seemingly tight-knit group of women. But as cracks begin to show and Jessica’s husband mysteriously vanishes, Aaliyah is pulled into a world of hidden secrets and carefully curated facades. As the town turns inward, long-buried tensions around race, class, and belonging rise to the surface threatening to destroy the very life Aaliyah is trying to build.

Rema, a Jamaican-born mother, finds herself at the centre of it all, forced to confront the limits of loyalty, the weight of unspoken trauma, and the truth about who she’s become. As pressure builds, she returns to Jamaica in search of clarity but what she finds is a reckoning with the past, and the hidden cost of protecting your children in a world shaped by race, class, and denial.

Set in Cardiff in the aftermath of COVID-19, when isolation bubbles still linger and tensions simmer beneath the surface, this psychological drama follows Maya, a sharp, unapologetic Black lecturer who assigns her students to research historical miscarriages of justice. But when one case hits disturbingly close to home implicating her white fiancé’s family Maya is thrust into a moral and emotional crisis. As the walls close in and loyalties fracture, she must decide whether to protect the life she’s building or expose a buried truth that could destroy it all.
